Soar

Here is my Challenge of Music Piece. I listened at a bazillion tunes I think on You Tube until I had a duh huh moment and pulled out my YO-YO MA cd. I love his sound. I love the cello. I hope at least one of my babies will be musically inclined and wouldn't it be wonderful if he played the cello. The piece I picked is Ecstasy of Gold performed with the Roma Sinfonietta Orchestra and directed (directed? written?) by Ennio Morricone. Hopefully this link will take you to You Tube, but it still can't compare to blasting it through one's own speakers. Just don't get the same "feel". I must confess. This is not my "ideal" submission. Although the music does make me soar (butterfly) and I would definitely attribute some earthiness (wood, ceramic) to it, I envision not only a palette of light and dark, but components that have contrasting weights. I was almost there. But Pink Eye struck last night as a nice little garnish to my sinus infection. And being She Who Waits Till the Last Minute, hadn't started enough in advance. At least not enough in advance.  Click here to see all those who are playing!

  2. That's beautiful and I love the neutral pallet. Yo-Yo Ma is a favorite of mine. I've been fortunate enough to hear perform when I lived in Melbourne. Fabulousness.

  3. Yo-Yo Ma is an extraordinary artist! Good choice. Your necklace is very lovely, even if it's not your final vision of the music. Hope your eye is better soon!

  4. Thank you for choosing Signor Morricone's music for your inspiration. He is an amazing composer who elevated motion pictures with his descriptive orchestrations. I am of an age to recall those "spaghetti westerns" with great fondness LOL. What more can be said of Yo-Yo Ma? His interpretation is sublime.

I love the way your organic elements bring to mind the setting of the movie... this is a wonderful design, Tari!

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

  5. Very pretty necklace! It may not be all you wanted (oh, I've been there many times myself...), but I, who can only see the result and not the vision you had, think it's really nice.

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

  7. Great music and an inspirational cellist for sure. Whether it was the piece you intended or not it turned out wonderfully and "soar" it does.

  8. I think all the nice earthy tones make for a great backdrop to watch this butterfly soar, as seen from above. Sorry about the pink eye, no fun! Hope it remedies quickly

  9. Wow, I love the neutral color palette with its earthy-ness. YoyoMa's cello swells the air and vibrates the heartstrings. Lovely.

  11. I like the butterfly - polymer? By you? and the image of a soaring butterfly is a very musical lyrical symbol. I also love the rustic rugged, tribal "What I meant to say" piece. Really diverse!

  12. Yes, the butterfly fits very well with the cello music! Great job on the color scheme too, so very neutral & natural. Pink eye, yuck!, hope you feel better really soon! :0

  13. So happy that you were able to participate Miss Tari! Yo-Yo Ma is really incredible. He was in Stevens Point (little old Stevens Point smack dab in the middle of nowhere!) this past fall with the Silk Road Ensemble. We were their last stop on their North American Tour. It was incredible, even if he didn't play by himself. He is not only incredibly gifted but so generous with his talents. At one point all the artists got up and just jammed out improv style and took hold of others' instruments from around the world and he just handed that cello over to some other artist! Okay, enough of my aside! This music stirs my soul. The swelling sounds and the intricate details. Wow. I can feel the bright lights of sunrise in this piece for some reason. I hope you feel better soon! Enjoy the day. Erin
