Sister Trish gave Mr. Pearl and Pebble and me baby blueberry bushes for Christmas 2008. This year our bushes have begun to grow a bit and we are getting little crops of berries here and there. This is what we just picked. I love fresh blueberries. Makes all this heat worth it! What's growing in your garden?
I'm hanging around to listen to your music tonight :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a few blueberries still growing in the backyard, but all of my herbs died of thirst while we were on vacation :(
So fun. We've just come back from visiting friends in Portland. They've blue berries that we enjoyed picking and having for breakfast, naked. Just one little morsel at a time. What's growing in my garden? Weeds, lots of weeds. So sad.
ReplyDeleteBasil -- I'm jealous of your blueberries. They are my fave and it's too hot to grow them here. they look gorgeous!

There are tomatoes (of course), basil, swiss chard, cilantro, beets, yellow squash, zuchini, burgundy & green beans and cukes. Wish I had some of your blueberries (my favorite)! I miss the wild blueberry bushes we had in NH...YUMMY!

yum, I must get a blueberry bush for next year! I have peas and broad beans and courgettes that I'm eating now. There will soon be some purple podded runner beans that I'm looking forward to.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a blueberry bush about 4 years ago. It was doing fine...producing delicious berries...then all the sudden, it died this year. It bloomed, then berried, then as the berries were turning blue, the whole bush just dried up! Wierdest thing...it isn't like we got too much rain or too little rain. I can't figure it out, so therefore, I am so jealous of you!
